Legalism in Action

What would posess someone in the parking lot of a CHRISTIAN BOOK STORE to leave the below note under the windshield wipers of one just wanting to find a book on student ministry so they can SERVE GOD better?

"Have some courtesy and learn to park."

The note in question, printed in perfect penmanship and torn from a piece of paper in a perfectly straight line, flapped mockingly at me in the breeze as I entered my car, optimistic about the opportunity God had given me to serve students next year. My decent parking job (which, admittedly was a little close to the right hand line, while still being completely within the lines) was not perfect enough to let go without some form of correction. Apparently, the parking lot of a Christian book store is the fertile soil on which righteous indignation flourishes. Not just garden variety righteous indignation, mind you; but the kind of righteous indignation which compels one to leave condescending notes under people's windshield wipers. Way to be Spirit-filled. I wish I had been blessed with the ministry of criticism like you.

That is so rude! When that happens to me (when I get too close to the car next to me... or vice versa) I just joke about it... that's my outlook on life. There is no perfect person out there... too bad so many think they are.
Oh, ouch!! Seriously, some people, and then to top it off, that it happened at a place like that.

That's like the teenage girls who left me a note one day in Bricktown b/c I parked in the space they were standing in "saving" for someone else. "I hope you know that you could have hit us and that we were there first. Hope you have a blessed day anyways!!" Or something like that.

People?!?! I say if you're in the lines, you're in the lines. Period.

nice...keying the car represents Christ really well too. My whole point with this story is that people need to watch what they do. Even if a car is parked right on top of you, did you ever think that maybe they were forced to park that way b/c of the car on the other side, or b/c they were in a hurry or any other number of reasons. Not to mention that leaving a hateful note on someone's car in the parking lot of a Christian bookstore really doesn't shout I want to represent Christ well to the rest of the world.
He never saw my face...the anonymity provided to him by the parking lot never afforded him the opportunity to say anything to my face. I still say it's a caddy and petty (and irritating) thing to do.
Yesterday, I was at the tag agency and some mini van parked within inches of my side... both of us were in the lines, and I got tickled thinking of your note. I would feel seriously silly writing a note because I couldn't get in my car.
It's an interesting point you raise, Melissa. Since I was already within the lines, this other car in question must also have been parked extremely close to the line to have had trouble getting into his car. Looks like he should hone his parking skills as well.
"Him" is the standard pronoun you use when you don't know what sex it is.
1-Caddy is something girls do.

2-Are you sure you and Clintiferd aren't dating anymore?
Whenever I see someone poorly parked, I ALWAYS think it was probably because the person they parked next to was parked even poorlier.
I have seen men be caddy......It is not just a "girl" thing.

My life in Christ in this world, a bittersweet paradox. But ultimately, it will only be sweet. Here's where I'll tell you something about it.
